The Defence Ministry suggests allowing conscripts to complete military registration using electronic identification

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has put forward a draft law that allows individuals subject to conscription to register themselves in the military database via online registration using electronic identification.

The relevant draft law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine ‘On Military Duty and Military Service’ Regarding the Peculiarities of Registration of Ukrainian Citizens in Conscripts Military Register and of Medical Examination of Conscripts during Basic General Training” was approved at a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The plan is to allow conscripts the option to complete their military registration and update personal details electronically through the service called “Electronic Cabinet of Conscripts, Individuals Subject to Military Service, and Reservists.”

Furthermore, it is planned to abolish commissions responsible for this registration and eliminate the requirement for medical examinations during the registration process.

It is planned that individuals pursuing higher education will undergo a medical examination before the practical components of basic general military training.

Clarifications will be made regarding the military registration for women who have shown interest in basic military service: immediately before going to such service, they will have the option to be registered in the military register of conscripts. After completing basic military service, they will be included in the military register of persons subject to military service.
