The Armed Forces of Ukraine roll out dedicated software to streamline food supply

Dedicated Food Service Operations Management Software (DFSOMS) has officially been authorized for operational use across the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It supports meal organization at the unit level.

About the software

DFSOMS is a tool that automates workflows and enables the following:

  • inventory accounting of food products within military units;
  • generation of supply requests;
  • menu planning;
  • rapid report generation.

Who will use the software

DFSOMS will be used by food service officers in military units. These service members are responsible for daily meal provision — ensuring personnel are adequately fed, on time, and in accordance with established standards. Their performance directly impacts a military unit’s daily operational readiness.

Benefits of implementing the software

  • Speed: Menu planning time is reduced significantly.
  • Efficiency: Less paperwork, reduced manual input, fewer errors.
  • Unified system: A standardized approach to menu planning at the unit level.

What has changed

Previously, menu planning relied on manual calculations or auxiliary tools. All core functions are now consolidated into a single software system under a unified standard.

Who developed and is implementing the software

DFSOMS was developed by service members from the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Center for Scaling Technological Solutions. The Logistics Forces Command acts as the customer and responsible authority, while overall coordination is provided by the Ministry of Defence’s Center for the Transformation of Defence Resource Management Processes.
