State ownership was restored for defense lands of an estimated worth of UAH 80 million

The land plots returned to the ownership of the Ministry of Defense are approximately 2 hectares in size. Situated near the administrative border of Kyiv, these properties are worth around UAH 80 million.

In March 2024, the local government of one of the territorial communities of the Kyiv region engaged in an unlawful procedure to remove defense lands from the Ministry of Defence's possession.

In one of the villages in the Kyiv region, there is a military town situated on a land plot exceeding 9 hectares, which belongs to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Certain buildings within the military town have been handed over to the municipality, yet there is a lack of consensus or resolution regarding the conveyance of the land plot.

The local government has decreased the extent of defense lands and formed four supplementary land plots.

The Security Service of Ukraine discovered the fact of land seizure and immediately informed the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. Thanks to the information received, the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the StateGeoCadastre and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, promptly implemented actions that led to the invalidation and annulment of the state registration of land pots for the territorial community due to its illegality. The ownership of the land was reverted back to the defense ministry.

Expropriation of defense lands is not tolerated, especially when martial law is in place. The Ministry of Defence is actively investigating unlawful land takeovers and aims to reclaim all of them for state possession.
