Starting next year, the demand data for drones, electronic warfare and signals intelligence equipment, and ground robotic systems from the Armed Forces will be gathered through DOT-Chain Defense

The State Operator For Non-Lethal Acquisition (DOT) is developing a module within the DOT-Chain system, through which the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be supplied with drones, electronic warfare (EW) and signals intelligence (SIGINT) equipment, ground robotic systems, and ground control stations. Digitalization will significantly enhance transparency and accelerate the delivery of critical equipment and assets essential for frontline operations.

This solution is based on the successful experience of the DOT-Chain system, which reduced the foodstuff supply cycle for the Armed Forces by a factor of four.

“DOT-Chain is developing rapidly and scaling its potential. Back at the launch stage, I mentioned that this system would be capable of handling more than just foodstuff supplies in the future. And this future is already here. Thanks to DOT-Chain, it will be possible to swiftly deliver drones to the areas where the military requires them, and in the quantities that are actually required,” said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization.

In this way, units of a brigade will be able to independently select the equipment they need via DOT-Chain Defense based on their available budgets. The envisioned functionality will enable direct interactions between manufacturers and suppliers of UAVs, EW/SIGINT systems, ground robotic systems, and ground control stations, the State Operator for Non-Lethal Acquisition, and the end user – the military.

In the first half of 2025, the method for acquiring requirements will be introduced as outlined here:

  • Each unit of a brigade submits a request based on its combat missions;
  • Per the requests from the brigades, the DOT creates orders for the manufacturers.

“Next year, we will launch a module within DOT-Chain Defense that will assist in gathering the Armed Forces of Ukraine's requirements data for UAVs, EW/SIGINT systems, ground robotic systems, and ground control stations. This approach will empower units to independently formulate requests, significantly optimizing the military's use of time and resources. For suppliers, this digitalization will create the conditions for the swift delivery of critical assets. Transparent communication will enable manufacturers to gain a clear understanding of the Armed Forces' needs, thereby enhancing product quality, optimizing production capacity, and accelerating the production of essential equipment,” emphasized Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.
