Stanislav Haider: We see the Ministry as a coordinator of the Defence Forces responding to changes and threats

At a meeting held in Kyiv, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Stanislav Haider briefed EU experts on the progress and results of the defence reforms.

The Ministry of Defence's main priorities in this process were communicated to the delegation, which included representatives from the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine (EUAM).

These priorities include efforts to develop an integrated defence system model. We see the Ministry as a coordinator of the Defence Forces, which must respond to changes and threats,” said Stanislav Haider.

According to him, five groups have been formed to formulate relevant policies, and the outcomes will be unveiled soon.

Among the other areas targeted for reform are the planning and reporting system, a new structure for the Ministry of Defence to eliminate duplication of functions and strengthen civilian control.

The Deputy Minister thanked the EU for its ongoing aid in military, economic, and political realms. “A number of European support mechanisms that are currently in place are a significant contribution to our struggle for freedom,” said Stanislav Haider.

The Ukrainian delegation also updated EU experts on the current security situation along Ukraine's borders and in the Black Sea region.
