Since the beginning of the year, russia has lost nearly 200,000 soldiers

In May, the russian army’s irretrievable and sanitary losses totaled 35,370 personnel—equivalent to roughly three divisions. This number surpasses the total personnel strength of the armed forces of certain European countries. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the beginning of the year, russia has lost 197,760 military personnel on the battlefield in Ukraine, roughly equivalent to the personnel strength of nearly twenty divisions.
Throughout May, Ukrainian defenders destroyed or damaged 1,391 enemy artillery systems. On average, our defenders neutralize 45 artillery pieces of the russian army daily. The peak day in May for enemy artillery system kills was May 6, Infantry Day, celebrated in Ukraine, with 71 enemy artillery units destroyed.
In total, since the beginning of the year, russia has lost 6,995 artillery systems in Ukraine.
Additionally, in May, Ukrainian warriors destroyed or damaged enemy assets, comprising 140 tanks (equivalent to the firepower of 4.5 tank battalions), 292 armored combat vehicles, 26 multiple launch rocket systems, 25 high-value air defense systems, 3,575 military vehicles, and 34 units of specialized equipment. Furthermore, two aircraft and one helicopter were neutralized.
It is noteworthy that May saw the highest number of combat engagements since early 2025, totaling 5,691. For comparison, 5,087 combat engagements were recorded in January, 3,274 in February, 4,270 in March, and 4,647 in April.
