Sergiy Boyev: Inviting Ukraine to join NATO is a crucial step toward fostering peace
Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for European Integration, Sergiy Boyev, met with Robert Bauer, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee.
The talks were held on the sidelines of the 16th International Security Forum, currently taking place in Halifax, Canada.
This annual conference stands out as one of the most influential and representative global platforms for discussing worldwide security and defense issues. Since 2022, a significant portion of the forum's agenda has focused on exploring ways to counter russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.
During the talks, Sergiy Boyev emphasized that for Ukraine, 'an invitation to join NATO is crucial for ensuring peace and will strengthen the security of both Ukraine and NATO.’
He added that this would also demonstrate the determination of Ukraine's partners.
Additionally, the parties discussed the current framework and plans for NATO assistance to Ukraine, as well as the development of the military capabilities necessary for the implementation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Victory Plan.
The status of current assistance initiatives and the potential for new cooperative projects between Ukraine and NATO were given particular emphasis.
