Science, innovation, and NATO experience: MoD and Taras Shevchenko University sign cooperation memorandum

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is engaging educational and scientific institutions to strengthen national defense and security. As part of this process, the Ministry of Defence and the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (KNU) signed a memorandum of cooperation.
Lieutenant General Yevhen Moisiuk, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, and KNU Rector Volodymyr Buhrov formalized the agreement. The document solidifies the existing partnership between the Ministry and one of Ukraine’s leading universities while opening new prospects for cooperation.
“KNU possesses tremendous potential in training highly qualified specialists and advancing domestic education, science, and Euro-integration processes,” emphasized Lieutenant General Yevhen Moisiuk.
The planned cooperation encompasses a broad range of areas, including:
- Expert analytical support for the drafting of legislative and regulatory acts in the areas of national security, military service, and education and scientific policy;
- Studying and adapting the experience of NATO member states in developing military legislation;
- Involvement in drafting the new Code of Military Service of Ukraine;
- Scientific support for reforms in education, defense, and security, alongside the promotion of scientific knowledge in the military sector;
- Implementation of innovative technologies in the educational process, development of digital resources, and enhancement of the information and communication environment;
- Collaborative publishing activities and exchange of educational materials;
- Conducting joint scientific activities and the practical application of academic research to address the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- International cooperation, encompassing involvement in projects, programs, and events of EU member states and international organizations.
The KNU Rector emphasized the University’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Defence presented the Rector of KNU with the Ministry of Defence’s award — the medal “For Strengthening Defense Capabilities.”
