Rustem Umerov: Working with Kongsberg on solutions to strengthen the protection of the population and critical infrastructure

Norwegian defence company Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace has opened an office in Ukraine.
“This is a leading Norwegian arms manufacturer, particularly of NASAMS systems, which are already defending Ukrainian cities from russian missiles and drones. In cooperation with Kongsberg, we are focusing on developing joint air defence projects. We are preparing new solutions based on NASAMS systems to strengthen the protection of the population and critical infrastructure,” said Rustem Umerov, Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
The Minister emphasized that air defence remains one of Ukraine’s strategic priorities. This month alone, the enemy has launched over 3,500 missiles and UAVs. The Ministry of Defence continues its efforts to scale up production and accelerate delivery.
The opening of the office is another step in developing the partnership between Ukraine, Norway, and Kongsberg, Rustem Umerov added.
“Together, we will implement projects in interceptor production, air defense enhancement, and maritime protection—areas in which Kongsberg is a global leader. This also opens new opportunities for cooperation between Ukrainian and Norwegian engineers, particularly in improving the effectiveness of existing weapons and implementing innovations,” stated Ukraine’s Defence Minister.
He thanked the Norwegian government for its financial support and the Kongsberg team for their trust and commitment to developing long-term cooperation.
“We are counting on practical results in the near future,” concluded Rustem Umerov.
