Rustem Umerov: Ukraine and Kongsberg Gruppen plan to integrate domestic air defense systems into the NASAMS system

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov met with Eirik Lie, the CEO of the leading Norwegian corporation Kongsberg Gruppen ASA and the President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.

“Ukraine is expanding its cooperation with the Norwegian defense company Kongsberg. This company has already provided significant support to Ukraine. Notably, Kongsberg, together with the U.S. company Raytheon, plays a vital role in supplying NASAMS air defense systems, which reliably protect our cities from aerial attacks,” the head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry said.

The parties analyzed the potential integration of domestic air defense systems into the NASAMS framework, aiming to enhance its overall effectiveness.

In addition, the discussion encompassed anti-drone systems, the potential for localizing their production in Ukraine, and the advancement of the maritime capabilities of the Defence Forces.

Rustem Umerov expressed gratitude to Kongsberg for their support and willingness to strengthen collaboration.
