Rustem Umerov: Romania will help strengthen our air defence capabilities

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, held a phone conversation with the Minister of National Defence of Romania, Angel Tîlvăr.

The defence ministers discussed ways to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian airspace from russian missiles and drones.

It is expected that Ukraine will soon receive a new Patriot air defence system from its Romanian partners.

Romania will also continue training Ukrainian pilots for the F-16 within its territory. Mr Tîlvăr briefed about the training process of a new group of pilots who have already arrived in the country.

“I thank the team of the Ministry of National Defence of Romania, the Romanian people, and the government of Romania for their comprehensive support of Ukraine. Your help will significantly strengthen our air defence capabilities,” Rustem Umerov said.

The defence ministers agreed to maintain ongoing communication to reinforce cooperation between the two countries, particularly during the planned visit of Rustem Umerov to Romania.
