Rustem Umerov: NATO advocates for the reinforcement of Ukraine's air defense
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine participated in the NATO-Ukraine Council session convened on the instructions of the Ukrainian President in response to massive missile attacks by russia.
“Two days ago, the terrorist state launched more than 200 missiles and drones, which led to killing innocent people and destroying critical infrastructure,” Rustem Umerov briefed the partners during a video conference.
The meeting participants discussed the current situation on the front lines and further plans for providing air defense systems and missiles for those.
The Minister of Defence also noted that Ukraine continues consultations, in particular in bilateral formats, regarding the creation of an air defense shield — the so-called security belt over the western regions of the country.
He thanked the allies for their steadfast support and assistance promised.
“More and more allies support the lifting of restrictions on the use of long-range weapons for Ukraine's self-defense within the framework of international law," Rustem Umerov summarized.
