Rustem Umerov: hitting targets on enemy territory will help protect Ukrainian cities
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine stated this during a meeting of Ukraine's foreign diplomatic mission leaders in Kyiv.
While addressing the plenary session focused on the discussion of the security situation and the needs of the security and defense sector, Rustem Umerov thanked the representatives of the diplomatic corps for their efforts in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and underscored the importance of further enhancing cooperation with allies.
He urged for a faster delivery of military aid and the start of new defense initiatives by boosting diplomatic efforts.
Strengthening air defense, advancing electronic warfare, and ensuring the timely provision of military equipment, including artillery, to the Armed Forces of Ukraine were highlighted by Rustem Umerov as priority aspects of cooperation with partners.
The Minister also underlined the importance of sharing information on security and defense needs with partner countries and urged diplomats to facilitate communication with weapon suppliers.
“We consistently communicate our priority needs with our partners and are open to diverse collaboration with manufacturers. Timely delivery of the necessary equipment is crucial for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to achieve success in both defensive and offensive operations,” Rustem Umerov said.
The Minister of Defence gave special consideration to the issue of removing restrictions on the use of Western-produced long-range weapon systems for targeting the enemy. “We must push for a conversation with our partners to remove this prohibition. Hitting targets on the aggressor's territory will help protect Ukrainian cities,” Rustem Umerov emphasized.
Additionally, he mentioned that the Ministry of Defence is open to cooperation and interaction with all allies and global manufacturers to strengthen the country's defense capabilities.
