Rustem Umerov engaged in discussions with Members of the European Parliament regarding international support for Ukraine

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine held a meeting with members of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, the second-largest group in the European Parliament.

The visit further underscored the European Union's unwavering and enduring support for Ukraine.

The head of the political group, Iratxe García Pérez, emphasized that assistance to Ukraine is one of the group's main priorities: “Supporting Ukraine in countering russian aggression remains one of the key priorities of our political group in the European Parliament.”

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the comprehensive assistance provided by the European Union to our country and underscored the importance of further consolidating international support.

“We discussed areas for consolidating international support for Ukraine and fostering joint projects with the EU, particularly between Ukrainian and European defense industries. I emphasized the importance of increasing weapons production in Europe, especially air defense systems,” Rustem Umerov said.

The Ukrainian side also highlighted the decision to provide Ukraine with a loan funded by frozen russian assets. The Defence Minister urged allocating these funds to develop the Ukrainian defense industry.

“russia is attempting to attack the European values that unite us. Thus, it is our shared duty to put an end to russian aggression. Together, we will prevail!” Rustem Umerov concluded.
