Rustem Umerov discussed security challenges with the Ambassador of Japan

Ukraine's Defence Minister has his first meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome.
The parties discussed pressing security challenges and explored avenues to enhance cooperation between Ukraine and Japan.
The Defence Minister expressed gratitude to the government and people of Japan for their support of Ukraine amid russian aggression, highlighting the significance of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to the role of the North Korean regime in supporting the russian armed forces.
“North Korea has sent 11,000 troops to the Kursk region. This increases the risk of modern military technologies being transferred from russia to the North Korean regime, thereby creating new threats not only for Europe but also for Asia,” stated Rustem Umerov.
The Defence Minister of Ukraine also suggested that Japanese partners consider financing non-lethal assistance, particularly in demining, as well as supporting Ukrainian industry.
“We will continue close contacts to enhance the security of our nations in the face of common threats,” emphasized Rustem Umerov.
