Progress on the ‘Ammunition Initiative’: Ukraine and Czechia delegations meet at the Ministry of Defence

Deputy Defence Minister of Ukraine Valerii Churkin met with the Czech delegation in Kyiv to discuss progress on the ammunition supply initiative.

“I express gratitude to the Czech people and leadership for their comprehensive support, particularly in providing military assistance to counter russian aggression,” said the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

During the talks, Deputy Minister Valerii Churkin and Aleš Vitečka, who heads the Intergovernmental Agency for Military Cooperation within the Czech Ministry of Defence, discussed plans for further cooperation.

The head of the Czech delegation provided a detailed briefing on the schedule and volume of ammunition supplies under the ‘Ammunition Initiative.’

In particular, the parties discussed the delivery dynamics of shells of various calibers throughout 2025, as well as cooperation with the donor countries supporting the Initiative.

The Ukrainian and Czech delegations discussed partnering with other countries on joint projects.

The parties also explored avenues to fulfill the pressing requirements of the Ukrainian Defence Forces and prospects for establishing new long-term contracts.
