Preparing for Ramstein-format meetings and strengthening air defence: Denys Shmyhal held talks with Germany’s Defence Minister

Ukrainian Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal held a conversation with German Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius.

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine emphasised that Germany remains a key partner in strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities.

“During the conversation, I expressed gratitude for the support provided, particularly within the framework of international coalitions and defence packages. The agreements following the Ramstein-format meeting have been discussed. We thank Germany for co-organising the meeting. The next Contact Group meetings are currently being prepared,” said Denys Shmyhal.

Ukraine’s Defence Minister spoke about the urgent needs of the Ukrainian Defence Forces through the end of the year and informed his German counterpart about the latest russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and the people killed by russians last night.

“I emphasised that Ukraine is in critical need of strengthening its air defence. I thanked for the support with Patriot system deliveries. This is an extremely important step that saves lives. We will continue close cooperation to strengthen our collective security,” summarised Denys Shmyhal.
