“Nordic Brigade”: Northern European nations were offered to arm and train one battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces per each country

Проєкт «Північна бригада»
Північноєвропейським державам запропонували підготувати та озброїти по українському батальйону.

During a recent visit to Norway by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine for European integration Oleksandr Balanutsa, Northern European countries were invited to join the Nordic Brigade project. Under the initiative, Northern European countries have the opportunity to train and arm a Ukrainian battalion each.

Norway was invited by the Ukrainian delegation to be a part of the Nordic Brigade project during their meeting with Norwegian State Secretary for Defense Anne Marie Aanerud.

Besides that, during the Nordic Defense Industry Seminar, the Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister called on armament directors from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland, and Sweden for bilateral cooperation and investments in the Ukrainian defense industry.

“By participating in the Nordic Brigade project, Northern European countries and defense companies will have the opportunity to demonstrate the effectiveness of Northern Europe defense industry products on the battlefield. Let's join efforts to win together,” the Ukrainian Deputy Minister concluded.

Representatives from defense companies such as NAMMO, Fjord Defense, FLIR UAS, Kongsberg, Equipnor, Norlense, and Rheinmetal engaged in talks with the Ukrainian delegation on the sidelines of the seminar.

Furthermore, the delegation of the Ukrainian MoD conveyed to the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence of Norway the need for increased assistance from partner countries.

The parties talked about Ukraine's aspirations to join Euro-Atlantic structures and the increased aid through the Nansen Support Programme for Ukraine.

“Norway remains committed to its support for Ukraine. The Norwegian Government’s intention to expand the Nansen Support Program to 2030 and commit 5 bn NOK in additional funding this year for Ukraine reflects this. Despite the complexity of the situation on the battlefield, we believe in Ukraine's victory," assured Anne Marie Aanerud.
