Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defence Sergiy Boyev held talks with Finland’s National Armaments Director, Olli Ruutu, on expanding industrial cooperation between the two countries.

First and foremost, the Deputy Minister of Defence briefed the Finnish side on Ukraine’s needs, particularly for the winter period. He emphasised that air defence and missile defence systems, associated missiles, drones, and ammunition remain among the top priorities.

“We are grateful to Finland for its active stance and support since the first days of the full-scale invasion. Maintaining the current level of defence support next year is vital for us to address ongoing challenges effectively,” underlined Sergiy Boyev.

He noted that countering enemy strike UAVs and scaling up the production of interceptor drones remain among the significant challenges. These issues are particularly urgent in light of the increased intensity of the aggressor’s attacks on civilian infrastructure.

Finland’s National Armaments Director, Olli Ruutu, reaffirmed his country’s full support for Ukraine. He emphasised the readiness of the Finnish industry to supply weaponry under the ‘New Europe’ initiative, including ammunition, IT solutions and other defence products.

The Ukrainian side, in turn, invited Finland to take part in the PURL initiative aimed at procuring U.S.-made weapons.

Furthermore, the parties discussed the possibility of supplying specific models of Finnish weaponry to Ukraine, including radar systems.
