According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the russian army’s irretrievable and sanitary losses in April totaled 35,010 personnel. This figure equates to the manpower required to fully staff nearly three motorized rifle divisions. For context, the enemy suffered 125,970 personnel killed or wounded in the first quarter of 2025.

Additionally, over the 30 days of April, Ukrainian defenders destroyed or disabled 1,560 enemy artillery systems, roughly equivalent to 86 artillery battalions. Notably, on 17 April alone, the Defence Forces neutralized 88 enemy artillery guns. To recap, the most effective day for destroying enemy artillery was 27 March 2025, when Ukrainian warriors eliminated 122 russian artillery pieces in a single day. Since the beginning of the year, russia has lost 5,604 artillery pieces, either destroyed or damaged.

In April, Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed or disabled 217 russian tanks, compared to 272 in March. Since the beginning of 2025, russia has lost 1,060 tanks in Ukraine, either destroyed or damaged. As a reminder, on 19 October 2023, russia suffered its most considerable single-day tank losses, when Ukrainian warriors destroyed or disabled 55 enemy tanks within 24 hours.

Furthermore, in April, Ukrainian forces destroyed or disabled 484 enemy armored fighting vehicles. 

The russian army has continued to suffer significant losses in automotive transport and tanker trucks for the second consecutive month. Notably, on 17 April 2025 alone, the enemy suffered a loss of 312 units of automotive equipment. In total, Ukrainian forces destroyed or incapacitated 4,063 enemy military vehicles in April, compared to 3,545 in March.

It is worth noting that the number of combat engagements on the front lines increased in April compared to March, with 4,647 recorded versus 4,270. For comparison, the number of combat engagements in February totaled 3,274. Since the start of the year, the number of combat engagements has surpassed 17,000.
