Over 19 divisions and 8,222 artillery systems lost by russian army in six months

In the first half of 2025, the irretrievable and sanitary losses of russian personnel amounted to 230,180 soldiers, equivalent to over 19 divisions.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over the past six months the enemy lost 1,311 tanks and 2,885 armored fighting vehicles (AFVs). The 1,311 vehicles equal approximately 42 tank battalions. The highest tank losses were recorded in February — 331 units. The greatest losses of enemy AFVs occurred in January – 610 units and in March – 607 units. 

Since the beginning of this year, more than 21,021 enemy military vehicles have been destroyed or damaged. For comparison, in the entire 2024 the russian army lost 22,000 automotive transport and tanker trucks. The highest monthly figure for destroyed enemy vehicles was registered in April 2025, when Ukrainian warriors destroyed 4,104 enemy vehicles. 

The Defence Forces continue to conduct successful counter-battery operations. In the first half of the year, Ukrainian forces destroyed or disabled 8,222 enemy artillery systems.

Despite global efforts to push the russian to the negotiating table and reach at least a temporary ceasefire, the number of combat engagements remains high: in June , there were 5,304 combat engagements. Over the six months, more than 28,273 combat engagements took place.
