One year of the MoD Partner platform: How the Ministry of Defence is digitalising its engagement with suppliers
Since its launch in early August 2024, the MoD Partner portal has become an effective tool for transparent cooperation between the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and manufacturers and suppliers of non-lethal assets. Thanks to digital solutions and clear procedures, the Ministry has received 1,956 applications from market participants.
The highest number of inquiries from suppliers – 1,264 applications – has been related to compliance certification, with 761 resulting in the issuance of a positive conclusion. This demonstrates a high level of preparedness and responsibility on the part of businesses, as well as the effective use of the digital platform.
Additionally, the following were submitted via the portal:
- 112 applications for military research trials;
- 41 applications for the transfer of a reference sample;
- 846 requests for clarification;
- 571 requests for working meetings with the Technical Committee of the MoD’s Central Directorate for Logistics Support Development.
Over the past year, the portal has become a useful tool for businesses, with over 13,000 visitors. This confirms the market’s interest in transparent procedures and cooperation with the Ministry of Defence. Visitor statistics demonstrate the convenience and popularity of the resource among suppliers and manufacturers of non-lethal assets.
The impact of the portal on the procurement market should be noted separately. The increased number of participants has increased competition among suppliers. This has helped achieve better pricing, optimise costs, and ensure more efficient use of public funds in the procurement of non-lethal assets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“We have created a tool that simplifies communication, improves the quality of supplies, and provides a clear understanding of the processes. The MoD Partner portal is not just about numbers – it is about trust, transparency, and quality interaction with the market,” said Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Kaiola, Head of the Central Directorate for Logistics Support Development at the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The MoD Partner portal was developed as part of the digital transformation of the logistics system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Its main goal is to ensure open and efficient cooperation between the defence department and businesses, while also enhancing transparency and accountability in procurement processes.
