Oleksandr Serhiy met with representatives of global defence companies

Scaling up weapons production and expediting deliveries were the focus of the meetings.

Alongside the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Poland, there were several events dedicated to enhancing Ukraine's defence capabilities. The exhibition incorporated the inaugural Ukrainian-Polish Defence Industries Forum. Deputy Minister of Defence Oleksandr Serhiy headed the Ukrainian MoD delegation. It includes specialists in specific clusters of weapons and military equipment of the Ground Forces and the Air Forces. The Ukrainian delegation held a series of meetings with officials from Defence Ministries of various countries and representatives of global defence companies. At the International Defence Industry Exhibition, there were technical discussions with the world's leading weapons and military equipment manufacturers from the United States, Norway, Finland, France, Australia, the United Kingdom, Poland, and other countries.

The Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine thanked the allies for their extensive support in the fight against russian aggression and briefed them about the urgent needs of the Ukrainian Defence Forces to strengthen their capabilities on the ground and in the air. The priorities include air defence systems, unmanned systems for various uses, electronic warfare equipment, ammunition, and components for production in Ukraine. The discussion also included the matters of arranging foreign weapons and military equipment repair services in Ukraine.

“I have been reassured by many of our partners that they will maintain their support of Ukraine in the war with russia. Following meetings with officials from Defence Ministries of different countries, including Norway and Canada, we have reached an agreement to draft and finalise cooperation agreements regarding armaments,” the Deputy Minister of Defence said after the trip.

The Deputy Minister of Defence mentioned that the conversation also covered the need to enhance endeavours in meeting the requirements of the Ukrainian Defence Forces and executing significant initiatives to support our military in the long term.

“Considering the situation on the front lines, the large-scale weapons production in russian defence industry facilities and the supply of ammunition to russia from North Korea and Iran, the kremlin is striving to maintain its campaign of destruction and killing. Hence, it is vital to strengthen our Defence Forces' capabilities significantly. The Russian terror must be stopped by a powerful response of the Ukrainian military and crucial decisions of our allies,” noted the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

According to our allies, russia's war against Ukraine has become the greatest security challenge of our time. russia continues to wage war and threatens not only Ukraine. In the face of present threats, it is essential to consolidate the efforts of democratic nations and enhance military aid to Ukraine. In order to strengthen our military in fighting against the aggressor, we ask our allies to establish joint military enterprises and purchase weapons for the AFU from domestic manufacturers. Each euro invested in Ukrainian defence industry companies is an investment in European security.
