Norway confirms plans to provide $7 billion in military assistance to Ukraine in 2026

Norway intends to maintain its support for Ukraine this year at the same level as in 2025, when more than $7 billion in assistance was provided.

The matter was discussed at a meeting between Sergiy Boyev, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, and Frede Hermansen and Torgeir Larsen, Secretaries General of the Norwegian Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs.

During the talks, the Ukrainian side expressed gratitude for the record contributions made in 2025 and for Norway’s plans to maintain this level of support this year.

Sergiy Boyev noted that in 2026, air defence will remain a pressing priority for Ukraine, particularly the development of domestic solutions capable of ensuring the protection of its skies.

The discussion also focused on the employment of unmanned aerial vehicles and the further development of this capability area. The Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine emphasised the importance of a unified drone strategy for Europe and the development of joint capabilities, leveraging the capacities and experience of Ukraine’s defence industry and Ukrainian service members.

“Norway actively supports Ukraine’s defence industry and helps develop our manufacturing capacities. We are exploring opportunities for joint production and are working to identify the mechanisms to make this possible,” said Sergiy Boyev, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.

Representatives of Norway’s Ministry of Defence confirmed their interest in Ukraine’s experience in employing UAVs and developing efficient production capabilities.
