New EU initiatives to assist Ukraine under development – meeting between Rustem Umerov and Kaja Kallas

In Brussels, Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov held talks with EU High Representative Kaja Kallas. The parties discussed key security matters that are of critical importance for the entire European continent.
During the talks, the parties outlined key areas for cooperation, such as boosting defense budgets, reinforcing the Security and Defence Forces, expanding production and actively developing new weapons, as well as incorporating Ukrainian combat experience into EU military policy.
“Ukraine has been and remains on a strategic path to Europe. We are resolutely defending our sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity,” Rustem Umerov emphasized.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Kaja Kallas reiterated the support for Ukraine and stated that the European Union is working on new initiatives to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities, which are set to be presented in the spring.
“Europe recognizes the importance of rapidly enhancing its defense capabilities and is ready to take action to achieve this,” summarized the Ukrainian Defence Minister.
