MoD’s DOT to procure ballistic blankets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time

The State Operator for Non-Lethal Acquisition (DOT), the acquisition agency of the Ministry of Defence, is for the first time procuring versatile field tents—ballistic blankets—designed to provide individual and collective protection for service members.

Configured as a tent, the product protects personnel from fragments produced by artillery shells, mines, grenades, and other explosive hazards. Its design incorporates materials capable of stopping incoming projectiles and dispersing their energy during training missions and active combat operations.

A ballistic blanket can be used during movement across open terrain, for reinforcing cover over dugouts and combat positions, in vehicles lacking armored protection, and for supporting casualty evacuation.

The initial 5,300 units are planned for procurement at a cost of over UAH 132 million, with delivery scheduled by the end of February 2026.

The product set includes a cover, a soft ballistic package, an individual carry bag, a user manual, and a spare-parts kit for minor repairs. All ballistic blankets will be supplied in the MM-14 (‘pixel’) camouflage pattern.

The product retains its protective performance at humidity levels of 40% to 70% and temperatures ranging from –40°C to +70°C for at least 6 hours. Each ballistic blanket will be labeled with a QR code that provides access to the user instructions in text format.
