MoD receives quadcopters from DRC to enhance demining quality control

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has provided the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence with additional technical and logistical support to reinforce four demining quality control teams. Defence Ministry specialists will use quadcopters and other equipment for demining quality control in areas cleared of mines and other explosive remnants of war.

The assistance was provided under the ‘Comprehensive Humanitarian Mine Action Project to Support Early Recovery in Ukraine, 2023–2026.’

“Thanks to this support, we can enhance the technical capabilities of our specialists, respond swiftly to emerging challenges, and ensure safety in demined areas,” said Colonel Ruslan Berehulia, Head of the Secretariat of the National Mine Action Agency and Head of the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety.

During the meeting, Colonel Ruslan Berehulia discussed further cooperation with DRC representatives, including the organization of training courses on demining quality control for Ministry of Defence specialists, in line with international and national standards. Practical training in the program will cover the deployment of unmanned aerial systems and AI-based solutions.

The parties agreed to continue collaborating on joint projects to strengthen the national mine action capacity.
