MoD presents an updated classification system for mine action technologies

Representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine participated in the HITS25 Mine Action Innovation and Technology Summit, which took place in Kraków, Poland.
During the event, the Ukrainian delegation presented an updated system for classifying mine action technologies.
The system classifies demining equipment into the following categories:
- ground-based;
- underwater;
- aerial;
- auxiliary;
- specialized.
The system was developed by the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety and is already being used in testing, technical evaluation, and the integration of innovations into the national mine action system.

The Ukrainian delegation additionally outlined approaches to creating a unified Ukrainian Training and Testing Complex (UTTC) ecosystem of testing grounds, as well as mechanisms for integrating advanced demining technologies into the operational activities of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
The summit enabled participants to:
- obtain information from partners on new technological solutions for detecting and neutralizing explosive hazards;
- conduct working meetings with international organizations on strengthening Ukraine’s underwater demining capabilities;
- reach agreements on follow-up partner visits to Ukraine to evaluate joint projects;
- present Ukraine’s position on key challenges and needs in mine action to the international expert community.

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine continues active cooperation with international partners to implement innovations, develop standards, and enhance operational capabilities in mine action.
