MoD decisions expand capabilities for drone-enabled remote mining
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has updated regulatory requirements for explosive initiation devices. This will expand capabilities for the production of UAV-emplaced anti-personnel, anti-tank, and anti-vehicle mines and enable their wider deployment by the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
“Furthermore, optimizing the parameters of explosive initiation devices will substantially lower their cost, and an expanded product range will enable the selection of devices tailored to specific combat tasks,” Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
Currently, electronic explosive initiation devices are used in 80% of all mines. The Ministry of Defence, in coordination with the Command of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reviewed their key parameters, which now reflect real operating conditions and manufacturers’ technological capabilities.
The Ministry of Defence continues to modernize and scale up weaponry to ensure that Ukraine’s military can continue to effectively deter the aggressor.
