MoD clarifies whether reserved individuals liable for military service can be referred to the Military Medical Commission

Reserved individuals liable for military service, or those with a valid deferment from conscription, are not referred for a medical examination by the Military Medical Commission (MMC).

 This is stipulated in the Procedure for the Conscription of Citizens for Military Service during Mobilization in a Special Period, as set forth by Resolution No. 560 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, dated May 16, 2024.

Exceptions apply in cases when individuals liable for military service with a valid deferment from conscription or reservation:

  • are enlisted for military service under contract;
  • were classified as limited fit and have not undergone a follow-up medical examination (except for persons with disabilities duly recognized in accordance with the established procedure);
  • Have voluntarily requested to undergo a medical examination.
