MoD and Pylyp Orlyk Foundation sign memorandum to restore Sikorsky House and establish a museum
In early January, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation aimed at uniting efforts to preserve a cultural heritage site—the house in which the prominent aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky lived with his family.
Under the memorandum, the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation will fund restoration works and the establishment of a museum in the building.
The house where the prominent aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky lived with his family is a cultural heritage site, included by a Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine resolution dated 25 January 2018, No. 32, in the List of Cultural Heritage Sites of National Significance, and bears protection number 260087. The heritage site is held on the balance of the State Enterprise “Central Design Institute” (CDI), which operates under the authority of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
