MoD allocates over UAH 1.5 billion to restore the operations of defense industry enterprises
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has provided budgetary funding to eliminate the consequences of combat damage and restore the production operations of Ukraine’s defense industry enterprises.
“Ukraine’s defense industry is consistently increasing its capabilities. The share of Ukrainian weapons and military equipment supplied to units of the Defence Forces is also growing. That is why, at the Ministry of Defence’s initiative, the financing mechanism for defense industry enterprises affected by enemy attacks was updated this summer. As a result, enterprises received budgetary support amounting to over UAH 1.5 billion and were able to resume their operations,” said Denys Shmyhal, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
This became possible thanks to amendments to the Government resolution that regulates the “Procedure for the Use of Funds Provided in the State Budget for the Implementation of State Target Programs for Reforming and Developing the Defense Industry, Developing, Mastering and Introducing New Technologies, and Expanding Existing Production Capacities for Manufacturing Defense Products.”
To put the Resolution’s provisions into practice, Ministry of Defence specialists are developing a comprehensive plan of urgent measures to ensure the resilient operation of domestic defense industry enterprises. The plan provides for the strategic relocation and duplication of production capacities at the most critically important defense industry enterprises. Enterprises are also being relocated from areas where the russian army uses guided aerial bombs (GABs). In addition, the construction of underground production facilities is underway.
These measures are effectively addressing the challenges faced by defense industry enterprises across all forms of ownership.
