Ministry of Defense recovers 350 hectares of defense lands in six regions of Ukraine

Over the past six months, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in cooperation with the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre, has restored state ownership rights to 69 land plots, totaling 350 hectares of defense lands. These plots are located in Ternopil, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Odesa, and Kirovohrad regions. Previously, they were unlawfully removed from the Ministry’s jurisdiction but will now be used to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

“In the context of russia’s full-scale invasion, every hectare of defense land must be used as intended. The alienation of critical territories is unacceptable; this is a matter of national security, so we must work seamlessly with the State GeoCadastre,” stated Deputy Minister of Defense Dmytro Klimenkov.

To prevent further cases of unauthorized land alienation, the Ministry of Defense, alongside the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre, conducted a state inventory in 2023-2024 and registered 84 plots in the State Land Cadastre, covering a total of 7,000 hectares.

Additionally, with the assistance of the State GeoCadastre, the Ministry has inventoried and registered 223 plots, covering a further 15,000 hectares, during 2023-2024. By the end of the year, an additional 4,500 hectares are planned for registration.

The Ministry of Defense and the State GeoCadastre intend to continue taking all necessary measures to restore state ownership of defense lands.
