Ministry of Defence of Ukraine assists defense industry companies in adopting NATO quality assurance standards

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine provides comprehensive support to defense industry enterprises in implementing NATO quality assurance standards, offering both advisory and methodological assistance.

The introduction of quality management systems at defense industry enterprises, in line with international standards, provides the basis for applying NATO quality assurance requirements set out in the NATO AQAP series of standards.

This was stated by Colonel Yevhen Krasnykov, Head of the Main Department of State Quality Assurance, in his address at the International Forum ‘Quality in Ukraine in the Conditions of Full-Scale War.’

The relevant department of the Ministry of Defence organized the forum on the occasion of World Quality Day, which is marked annually under the auspices of the United Nations. The event was attended by representatives of leading defense industry enterprises, public organizations, and research institutions.

Amid military aggression, the quality of goods and services has become a decisive factor in the state’s defense capability, while the role of state quality assurance has become crucial.

One of the forum’s key objectives was to bring the international community’s attention to the transformation of Ukraine’s system for assuring the quality of defense products, works, and services, and to its synchronization with the systems of NATO and EU member states.

The event also addressed the following topics:

  • The role of business in ensuring the quality of defense products, works, and services;
  • Practical experience in manufacturing dual-use products under martial law;
  • Experience and challenges in ensuring quality in the training of specialists for Ukraine’s economy during wartime.

Following the forum, participants agreed on several practical steps to further cooperation in developing a national quality assurance system integrated with international approaches and built on the principles of ISO 9001 and the NATO AQAP standards.
