Ministry of Defence codified the Ukrainian-made infantry rocket-assisted thermobaric launcher
Ministry of Defence of Ukraine codified and adopted for use in the Armed Forces infantry rocket-assisted thermobaric launcher, developed by experts of one of the defense sector entities.
This portable weapon is designed to destroy enemy firing points and light armored and automotive vehicles. The weapon is also capable of eliminating enemy forces positioned behind cover, barriers, and open areas.
The launcher is armed with a rocket-propelled grenade that contains a special thermobaric mixture. The detonation power of this grenade is on par with that of a large-caliber artillery shell. At the point of impact, a fire layer with a volume of around fifteen cubic meters emerges, creating a high-pressure zone. The temperature during combustion reaches around 2,500 °C. The danger to enemy personnel remains more than fifty meters from the blast's epicenter.
Using a launcher is especially advantageous in urban assault operations: in areas with permanent buildings, subterranean shelters, etc. For example, the survival chances of an enemy taking cover inside a brick building are eliminated when a launcher shot detonates within.
