Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv introduced new specialties in 2025: Resistance Movement and Public Relations in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

As part of the 2025 admissions campaign, the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (KNU Military Institute) continues to accept applications for training future officers. 

This year, the Institute expanded its educational programs by adding two new specialties: “Organization, Preparation, Conduct, and Support of Resistance Movement Cell Activities” and “Public Relations in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” In total, the KNU Military Institute now offers training in 12 areas of specialization.

“By studying at the KNU Military Institute, cadets have the opportunity to earn not only a diploma from one of the country’s most prestigious educational institutions but also to receive an officer’s rank. Moreover, we engage our students in international programs, foster military leadership, enhance language training, and incorporate relevant experience and practical skills. Military education is a starting point for those who are ready to take responsibility for national security and contribute to shaping the country’s future,” said Colonel Oleksii Siroshtan, Head of the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The KNU Military Institute trains military specialists in line with modern standards, having integrated 57 NATO standards into its educational process. Educational activities are based on the Military Education System Transformation Concept, with a focus on developing military leadership and practical skills. 

The Institute offers training in the following specialties: 

  • Military Translation
  • Military Political Science
  • Military Psychology
  • Military Journalism
  • Finance and Military Economics
  • Law Enforcement in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
  • Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC)
  • Geoinformation Systems and Technologies
  • Social Work in the Armed Forces
  • International Relations

The educational process includes internships in combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, participation in the “Warrior Combat Survival System” program, and elective courses in tactical medicine, marksmanship training, and UAV operations. Each year, more than 200 cadets and officers take part in international programs.

How to enroll in the KNU Military Institute in 2025?

Admission to the KNU Military Institute is conducted through a competitive process. Applicants must be Ukrainian citizens, have completed full general secondary education, and meet the following criteria:

  • Individuals aged 17 to 30 years (including those turning 17 in the year of enrollment);
  • Military personnel and individuals liable for military service who do not hold officer ranks, aged 18 to 30. 

Admission to the first year of full-time study is based on the results of the National Multi-Subject Test (NMST). Applicants must also pass entrance exams, undergo a psychological evaluation, complete a physical fitness test, and undergo a medical examination. 

For certain specialties, an additional English language entrance exam is required. 

Applications can be submitted to the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (enlistment offices) until June 20, 2025.
