Meeting with the Ambassador of Japan: Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister called for further cooperation

Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksandr Balanutsa thanked Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori for fruitful cooperation and advancement of Ukrainian-Japanese relations.

“Over the recent years, the interaction between Ukraine and Japan has significantly increased, and your contribution in humanitarian and technological aspects bolsters our defense capabilities. I look forward to your advocacy of Ukrainian interests upon your return to Japan,” said Deputy Minister Oleksandr Balanutsa to the Ambassador of Japan, Matsuda Kuninori, who will soon complete his current diplomatic mission.

The parties deliberated on the status of joint projects and the vector of their further development, including Japan's participation in the Demining Coalition and the IT Coalition. The Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defence called for participation in more coalitions and expressed hope for quick decision-making.

Ambassador of Japan Matsuda Kuninori briefed the Ukrainian side about the changes in the composition of the Japanese Government. Furthermore, he mentioned that Japan comprehends Ukraine's security challenges, as his nation encounters similar threats in East Asia.

The participants also exchanged their expectations about the upcoming Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting, which is set to take place with the leaders of the participating countries, with US President Joe Biden as the chair.
