Maritime drones, radars and anti-personnel mines: Denys Shmyhal and Minister of National Defence of Lithuania discuss ways to enhance defence-industry cooperation
Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Denys Shmyhal, met in Kyiv with Lithuania’s Minister of National Defence, Robertas Kaunas.
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Lithuania for their unwavering support for Ukraine since the onset of russia’s full-scale invasion.
“We value Lithuania’s allocation of 0.25% of its GDP towards strengthening our defence capabilities, its active engagement in Coalitions and programmes — especially PURL and SAFE — and its provision of funding for the procurement of Patriot air-defence systems,” Denys Shmyhal stated.
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine also expressed gratitude to Lithuania for preparing a new military assistance package that will include critically important armaments.
Furthermore, Denys Shmyhal and Robertas Kaunas discussed strengthening defence industry cooperation. The parties identified promising areas of cooperation, including the joint production of maritime drones, radars and anti-personnel mines.
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine also briefed his Lithuanian counterpart on the critical needs to strengthen the Ukrainian military, including FPV systems, interceptor drones, and deep-strike capabilities.
“I thank Lithuania for its consistent support for our position on achieving a just peace,” emphasised Denys Shmyhal.
