Long-term projects in the defense industry and building European security: Sergiy Boyev participates in E5 Group meeting

First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Sergiy Boyev, participated in a meeting of defence ministers from the E5 Group, which includes Italy, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Poland.
Addressing the defence ministers of these countries, as well as representatives of NATO and the EU, Sergiy Boyev declared Ukraine’s readiness for a 30-day total ceasefire. However, he stressed that russia is not ready for this and is maintaining pressure on the battlefield, while also scaling up missile and other arms production.
The First Deputy Minister of Defence highlighted Ukraine’s priority needs: air defense and missile defense systems, interceptor missiles, artillery ammunition, heavy armored vehicles, and drones. He affirmed Ukraine’s commitment to advancing joint long-term defence industry projects to fulfill critical capability requirements.
Additionally, Sergiy Boyev called for greater consolidation in arms production and the development of Europe’s drone industry. This includes joint efforts to secure funding, establish production, and support innovation. He expressed confidence that Ukraine’s experience in scaling up drone production could be highly valuable in this context.
“Ukraine is grateful for the security assistance already provided and announced. Now, it is crucial to advance long-term projects that will reinforce the security of the European continent. We are ready to share any experience that will help us all become stronger,” emphasized the First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
In their speeches, the defence ministers of Italy, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Poland reaffirmed their continued support for Ukraine and their commitment to providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine with everything they need. They noted russia’s actions and agreed that pressure on the aggressor must be intensified by all means.
Furthermore, the meeting participants discussed activities within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing and mechanisms to provide the Ukrainian army with the necessary support. In turn, EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius emphasized that Ukraine is at the core of Europe’s security strategy, and integrating Ukraine’s defense industry into the European ecosystem is only a matter of time.
