Less waiting and fewer queues: military personnel will have access to priority date slots for online marriage via Army+
Service members will soon be able to reserve priority date and time slots for online marriages through the Diia platform using the Army+ application.
The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted the relevant amendments to the resolution on electronic state registration of marriage, initiated by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
The online marriage feature in Diia was launched last year. Thanks to this feature, 4,000 couples have registered their marriage. At the same time, users have already submitted 19,000 requests for this service.
Currently, many Ukrainians serving in the Defence Forces cannot take leave to get married due to their duties. Being able to do this promptly, whenever they wish, and without enduring long queues is crucial for them.
“In recent months, users have expressed interest in having this capability. We are responding to this need. In collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, we have initiated changes allowing military personnel to reserve priority dates and times for marriage registration,” said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence for Digital Development.
To secure a priority date and time, a service member must apply Army+. It is important to note that the marriage request must be initiated by a service member. Once the request is approved by a State Registry Office of Civil Status Acts, a notification with details of the online ceremony will be sent via the Diia app.
This functionality is being implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the “National Information Systems” State Enterprise, and the State Registry Office of Civil Status Acts, with support from the Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program, executed by the East Europe Foundation. The technical partner, Cisco, provided Cisco Webex videoconferencing solutions under a memorandum signed with the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
