The Kharkiv National Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub invites motivated young individuals who aspire to become highly skilled officers, pilots, engineers, and air defense specialists. 

The university is a multidisciplinary, multi-profile higher military educational institution that trains military specialists under a state allocation program to support Ukraine’s air defense, serving Ukraine’s Air Force, Land Forces, Navy, as well as the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, and the Main Intelligence Directorate.

Which faculty to choose?

The Flight Faculty welcomes those who dream of the skies to choose the path of an aircraft pilot, ranging from transport planes like the An-26 to fighters such as the F-16, helicopter pilots (transport or combat), navigators, or combat control officers. Graduates of the faculty receive a Private Pilot License (PPL) and undergo training abroad on modern foreign-made aircraft.

The Aviation Engineering Faculty welcomes those aspiring to become professionals in the maintenance of aircraft and helicopter systems. The faculty provides training for operators of Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial systems.

The Surface-To-Air Missile Forces Faculty trains specialists who uphold Ukraine’s air defense shield and protect its skies. Graduates undergo training in Ukraine and abroad on Patriot, NASAMS, IRIS-T, and HAWK surface-to-air missile systems.

The Faculty of Automated Control Systems and Ground-Based Aviation Support trains specialists in computer networks, specialized automated systems for command post data collection and processing, modern communications (from Harris radios to satellite terminals), and radio-technical systems supporting aviation operations.

The Radio-Technical Forces Faculty for Air Defense trains military specialists in operating and employing radar systems for airspace surveillance — the “eyes” of Ukraine’s air defense.

The Air Defense Faculty for the Land Forces trains air defense specialists who protect Ukraine’s skies from enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and provide air cover for the units of the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine. The faculty provides training on short-range (SHORAD) and very short-range (VSHORAD) air defense systems, including the Avenger, Stormer HVM, Gepard, Stinger, and others.

Admission requirements for applicants:

  • Citizens of Ukraine aged 17 to 30 years (including those turning 17 in the year of enrollment);
  • Military personnel and individuals liable for military service who do not hold officer ranks, aged 18 to 30;
  • Completion of full general secondary education.

Admission to the University is based on the results of the National Multi-Subject Test (NMST), entrance exams, medical examination, psychological evaluation, and physical fitness test.
