‘Justice for the Military’: A collaborative social project for Defenders launched by the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs
The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, has launched the ‘Justice for the Military’ social initiative, aimed at enhancing the legal awareness of service members, veterans, and their families.
The initiative seeks to provide military personnel and their families with essential legal information through a series of concise video briefings, thereby enhancing their understanding of legal matters and procedures. As part of the initiative, video consultations are available on key legal topics, including: proper preparation of military reports; procedures for appealing Military Medical Commission (MMC) decisions; access to free prosthetics and expedited medical services; securing entitlements to financial assistance; procedures for handling cases of missing or captured personnel; and obtaining free legal aid.
With support from JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, these videos are broadcast at railway stations and on Intercity trains, allowing service members and their families to access important legal information while traveling across the country. All videos include sign language interpretation to ensure that as many of our defenders as possible can access the legal support.
The ‘Justice for the Military’ project is a further step toward enhancing government outreach focused on raising legal awareness among service members. “Concurrently, the Ministry of Justice is implementing another initiative — the Defender’s Rights special project — which offers practical legal guidance on a broad range of issues related to military service.
