JATEC is a new step towards Ukraine's membership in NATO - Stanislav Haider

The Declaration on the establishment of the Joint Ukraine-NATO Analysis, Training, and Education Center (JATEC) was adopted following the North Atlantic Council meeting at the summit in Washington.

This decision, approved by the heads of state and government of the Alliance, is a significant step in identifying and implementing the lessons from russia's war against Ukraine, as well as increasing Ukraine's operational interoperability with NATO.

The importance of JATEC was also highlighted at the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at the level of heads of state and government, which took place in the US capital on July 11.

"We can already officially state that the long-term joint work of the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces and the Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration gave a concrete result - the decision to create the first joint international institution supported by all NATO member states. Our task now is to take advantage of the opportunities provided by this decision to strengthen the capabilities of the defense forces and accelerate Ukraine's accession to NATO," said Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Stanislav Haider.

He stressed that this center would serve as the first practical platform for Ukraine-NATO cooperation in history, as well as a practical tool for advancing Ukraine's integration into the Alliance.

The uniqueness of the Joint Center for Analysis, Training and Education also lies in the fact that JATEC will function directly within the NATO structure under the leadership of one of the Alliance's strategic commands. Ukraine, together with NATO member countries, will participate in the preparation and decision-making of the Center. The management model also takes into account the role of the Ukraine-NATO Council.

Note: JATEC is a flagship project created within the framework of NATO's multi-year comprehensive assistance package for Ukraine. Its establishment aims to jointly build the capabilities of the defense sector of Ukraine and the Alliance, achieve interoperability of security and defense institutions of Ukraine with the relevant institutions of the Alliance, improve the quality of education, increase the analytical component and train personnel.
