Investments, weapons, brigade training: Rustem Umerov summarizes visits to France, UK, Italy, and Germany
As part of the delegation led by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov conducted official visits to France, the UK, Italy, and Germany.
During these visits, Rustem Umerov negotiated with these countries' defense ministers and met with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
“We held productive meetings and have strong support and agreements that bring our victory closer,” the Minister of Defence of Ukraine emphasized.
During the meetings, officials of the four countries confirmed that the investment flow into the Ukrainian defense industry is set to increase. The discussions specifically focused on tangible measures aimed at enhancing weapon manufacturing, both within Ukraine and via joint ventures with European partners. This strategy will facilitate the production of military equipment, weapons, and ammunition, fostering a fundamentally redefined cooperative relationship.
“There will be more weapons for our defenders. The United Kingdom will provide AS-90 artillery systems, long-range weapons, and robotic systems, which will significantly strengthen our battlefield capabilities,” Rustem Umerov said.
The discussion also covered the possibility of utilizing frozen russian assets to fund Ukrainian defense needs.
Furthermore, Rustem Umerov acquainted himself with the training activities of the AFU Brigade in France. “France is not only training but also equipping our units with modern weapons. This is an example that other partners should follow,” stated the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
Rustem Umerov thanked the governments and people of France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany for their strong support.
During the meeting with President Emmanuel Macron, the Ukrainian Minister of Defence proposed an exchange of experience in drone systems. Ukraine is willing to assist in establishing a training center for drone operators in France.
