Individuals involved in the Resistance Movement who were held in captivity will be able to obtain the combatant status

Those involved in the Resistance Movement who were held in captivity now have the right to obtain combatant status. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at the initiative of the Ministry of Defence, amended the pertinent Procedure.

Individuals released from captivity who were voluntarily and confidentially engaged by the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to carry out tasks related to the Resistance Movement, excluding those who voluntarily surrendered to the enemy, may apply for combatant status. The updated Procedure also clarifies the grounds for granting this status.

The composition of the special commission responsible for granting combatant status has also been revised. The disbanded Personnel Center of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been removed from it. Additionally, the special commission's work may involve military unit commanders and other military personnel.
