In November, units from the Ministry of Defence cleared more than 18,000 hectares of land contaminated with explosive ordnance

In November, mine clearance units of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine cleared 18,445.39 hectares of territories from explosive ordnance, including 18,266.09 hectares of agricultural land.

The results of the activities also included:

•       the clearing of 18.02 km of roadways;

•       the survey of 31.6 km of railways.

During the demining operations, a total of 4,456 explosive devices were located and subsequently neutralized. In total, since the start of the large-scale russian invasion, the number has amounted to 415,681 items.

According to the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is deploying mine clearance units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service to clear the de-occupied territories of explosive ordnance.

During the last week of November, 192 mine clearance teams, comprising 905 personnel and supported by 17 mechanized demining vehicles, were engaged in clearing areas.

As of today, 69 mine action operators have been certified in Ukraine. Once certified, these operators are authorized to conduct humanitarian demining, i.e., in areas with no active hostilities.

Humanitarian demining in Ukraine is exclusively carried out by mine action operators, as mandated by the Law of Ukraine on "Mine Action in Ukraine.
