In February, mine clearance units of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine cleared over 5,000 hectares of de-occupied territories

In February, mine clearance units of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine cleared 5,351.5 hectares of territories from explosive ordnance, including 5,211.9 hectares of agricultural land.

According to the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, 32.67 km of roads and 13.4 km of power lines were surveyed and cleared during this period.

During the demining operations, a total of 3,196 explosive devices were located and subsequently neutralized. In total, since the start of the large-scale russian invasion, this number has amounted to 426,084 items.

Mine clearance units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service are deployed to clear the de-occupied territories of explosive ordnance.

During the month, the number of certified mine action operators increased by three, reaching 83 as of the end of February 2025.

To reiterate, teams from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, explosive ordnance disposal units of the National Police of Ukraine, and pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are involved in government-sanctioned units of central executive bodies carrying out operations to remove explosive remnants of war from formerly occupied areas.

Humanitarian demining in Ukraine is exclusively carried out by mine action operators, as mandated by the Law of Ukraine on "Mine Action in Ukraine.”
