In April, nearly 6,000 hectares of de-occupied areas were cleared by demining specialists from the Ministry of Defence

In April 2025, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine's mine clearance units cleared 5,850 hectares of de-occupied territories from explosive hazards.

Specifically, during the month, the following was cleared:

  • 5,305.26 hectares of agricultural land;
  • 16.29 km of roadways;
  • 7.67 km of electric power lines;
  • 10.98 hectares of residential areas.

Throughout the month, sappers uncovered and neutralized 6,935 explosive devices. Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, a total of 438,862 explosive devices have been eliminated.

As of the end of April, 87 mine action operators have been certified in Ukraine.

According to the MoD’s Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, teams from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, explosive ordnance disposal units of the National Police of Ukraine, and pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are involved in government-sanctioned units of central executive bodies carrying out operations to remove explosive remnants of war from formerly occupied areas.

Humanitarian demining in Ukraine is exclusively carried out by mine action operators, as mandated by the Law of Ukraine on "Mine Action in Ukraine.”
