In 2025, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine’s mine clearance units cleared over 66,200 hectares of liberated territories
Throughout 2025, mine clearance units of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine cleared 66,267 hectares of liberated territories contaminated with explosive hazards as a result of russia’s armed aggression.
In particular, security has been restored for:
- 62,270.98 hectares of agricultural land;
- 204.66 km of roads;
- 71.46 hectares of water areas;
- 274.38 km of railways;
- 21.76 km of pipelines;
- 86.32 km of electric power lines.
In addition, mine clearance specialists identified and neutralized 63,535 explosive hazards (480,412 since the start of russia’s full-scale invasion).
Over the year, the number of certified mine action operators increased by 60, reaching 132 as of December 31, 2025.
Humanitarian demining in Ukraine is exclusively carried out by mine action operators, as mandated by the Law of Ukraine on "Mine Action in Ukraine.”
According to the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is deploying mine clearance units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service to clear the de-occupied territories of explosive ordnance.
