How the expanded Army ID functionality in the new version of the Army+ app works

This article explains what has changed and how Army ID works in practice.

What is Army ID?

The Army+ update expands Army ID functionality. In addition to a unique ID number for submitting reports, Army ID now includes a digital defender ID that can be used to confirm military service. The ID displays a photo and basic information accessible via a QR code.

How does the digital ID work?

The digital ID in Army ID displays a photo and basic information. Service members can generate a QR code for verification when required. Such a code:

  • is valid for three minutes from the moment it is generated;
  • does not permanently store personal data;
  • provides access to information only during verification.

 After the code expires, a new one can be generated.

Does Army ID replace paper documents?

No. Army ID does not replace paper-based military registration documents.

It serves as a convenient digital tool for daily use, including verification of a service member’s status during checks by representatives of Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (enlistment offices) or the Military Law Enforcement Service (Military Police), including at checkpoints.

Who can verify the data, and how?

When a QR code is scanned, representatives of Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (enlistment offices) or the Military Law Enforcement Service (Military Police) receive access to the basic information necessary to confirm a service member’s status.

The data are not stored permanently and are retrieved only at the time of verification.

Is an internet connection required?

Army ID can be displayed in the app even without internet access. However, an internet connection is required to generate a QR code and to verify it.

This is intended to ensure that only current information is shown during verification.

What other changes were introduced in Army+ 3.0.0?

In addition to the expanded Army ID, the updated version of Army+ now includes:

  • the ‘Pulse’ information feed with official explanations and useful information for service members;
  • a notifications section where the history of key messages and report statuses is stored;
  • an updated design and navigation for faster access to services.

Update Army+ to version 3.0.0 to access the app’s new features on a daily basis. The latest version is available on Google Play, the App Store, and the app’s website: https://aplus.mod.gov.ua/.
